Pop Up Asana at Mill River Winery

This past Sunday I tried TWO new things! I attended my first event with Popup Asana at my very first winery.

I wrangled my sister and mother into joining me on an absolutely beautiful Sunday morning in Rowley, Massachusetts at the Mill River Winery. We joined about 30 other women and one gentleman on the grass overlooking the winery’s grape trees, lay down our yoga mats and towels, and sipped on water as we waited to get started.

The two teachers and the organization’s founders, Jenna and Kristin, were energetic and engaging, handling the large group with ease and offering modifications on specific moves to those who needed them. It was a different type of yoga than anything I’d done before, with a number of new moves and a bit of a slower pace. It was still challenging, though, and definitely a workout I needed.

After the class, we all eagerly headed over to the gift shop and tasting facility just a few steps away from the orchard. An indoor and outdoor bar were set up where we chose our tasting palette (either sweet or savory), and got started on our first of five wine samples. While we sampled, we helped ourselves to a beautiful and plentiful appetizer station, complete with fruit, cheese, crackers, and bread. The winery’s homemade salsas were available to taste with chips, and their olive oils were a nice accompaniment to the bread.

We finished the event with a quick tour of the facility, learning about the harvesting processes, the fermenting chambers, and the brand growth. Not a bad way to spend a summer Sunday! There are definitely more wineries and yoga events in my future.
